SNIP partners with the ASPCA offering free surgeries and
vaccines to owners of "junkyard" dogs and "bodega" cats in the
inner communities of New York City.
Dogs are comprised of Pit Bulls, Rottweilers and Shepherd mixes.
These breeds are put to death in municipal shelters, not because
they are dangerous but because they are in abundance.
Cats are used as mousers. Offspring are given to patrons and
community residents, with many discarded to the street as adult
cats, adding to the already burdened feral and stray cat
population.
